There can be a moment of change in anyone’s life, and whatever road you choose to take after that moment can end up altering everything, or it can alter nothing. I managed to pick a road that changed everything, and fortunately I had a motorbike to take me on it. My moment arrived when I was told to sling my hook by a girlfriend who was obviously insane to kick out a lovely man like me (at least that’s what my mother said). This turn of events unfortunately also left me homeless. I had three roads to choose from at that moment, I picked the one that didn’t involve either grovelling on my knees and sobbing, or having to eat ‘Tesco Ready Meals for One’ in a damp bedsit for three months. I had nowhere to go and all the time in the world to get there, and I decided to go ‘there’ on my motorbike. This is the account of the journey I made across Europe that changed my outlook on the world, turned me into an ‘Overland’ addict, and ultimately led to this wonderful life I now lead. I also happened to have a hell of a laugh on the journey, which was nice. Soiling myself wasn’t quite so nice but what the hell, it’s all part of life’s rich tapestry, or so they say.
