The Arctic Ocean was still frozen when I, at age fifty-three, reached it by motorcycle, becoming the first woman to complete the Ultimate Coast to Coast Challenge. With both time and distance requirements, the Challenge is a grueling ride from Key West, Florida, the most southern point on a road in the United States to the most northern point on a road in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

A Challenge for No Other Woman is my astonishing journey to the frozen Arctic Ocean and the prehistoric wilderness of Alaska, to the painted red sand monoliths of the Valley of the Gods. My adventure is one of beauty, hardships, fears and challenges that I saw, experienced and conquered on my one-hundred-day journey over twenty-thousand miles of American roads.
